Mosquito traps that target Aedes aegypti females at the breeding site
.....
Having experienced both Dengue and Chikungunya (but not yet Zika, malaria et al), I particularly enjoy killing mosquitoes. Evil, evil things.
You should enjoy this, Chris. It might even be something you can use. It is basically a black bucket (dark inside) plus pheromones, a larvicide**, and a fungus. The pheromone draws the females in. When they lay eggs on the gauze inside, their larvae will die, and they are contaminated with the larvicide and the fungus. They subsequently contaminate other breeding sites, killing the larvae there. The fungus kills the female after about 10 days, so she has time to visit lots of sites. I think this is a really elegant solution, if it proves effective. It seems that decreased populations come from having a number of these traps around. Yes. Thank you. I have been following this technology for a while. And it is available retail here in Barbados for only about 10x the cost in North America. An opportunist importer is trying to make money -- the fluids keep needing to be fed into the device for it to continue working (a bit like a Macs Razor, or an iPhone). |

I suppose the fluids are also extortionately priced. |

Apple has finally fixed OpenCL with macOS Sierra (10.12). I had submitted a bug with them a while ago and got an e-mail yesterday from them. macOS Sierra is still in beta, but the OpenCL libraries that were broken two years ago are now working again.
