TF Assignments assigned to LL at the same time?
 

I have recently been assigned several exponents through GPU72 via MISFIT that when queried, show that they have been assigned to someone else for LL. Here are some of the exponents:

53925493

What gives?

This is how the things work. This is normal. PrimeNet is not aware of the existence of the gpu's, so its TF limits are much lower, because the CPU's he believe will be used for TF are much slow. It will not assign you a TF job for an exponent already TF-ed too much. "For research" is the user name used by gpu72 to reserve candidates for LL. But "for research" does not do any work on those candidates. Instead, it "subcontracts" them to you for TF. When you do your TF and report the results (to PrimeNet), the gpu72's "spider" will detect that the work was done and it will unreserve the LL work, if the TF done was "enough" from his point of view. If so, someone else will reserve the candidate later eventually, for proper LL.

You have nothing to worry about. Do your TF work, report your result to PrimeNet. Get the credit on both gimps and gpu72. Take another assignments from Gpu72. Repeat.

As LaurV explained, this is (now) nominal. (And sincerely thanks for covering for me on "User Support" LaurV -- I'm very, very busy at the moment.)

When the assignment and expiry rules on Primenet changed in February, GPU72's spiders had to change their methodology for some ranges.

Anything assigned to you which is officially "owned" according to Primenet to either "GPU Factoring" or "For Research" are being managed by GPU72. If you (or anyone) sees anything assigned by GPU72 not assigned to either of these two Primenet "Display Names", please let us all know, because it will indicate a bug somewhere which needs to be squashed.

OK, I understand. This would have been much less confusing if "for reasearch" was something more obvious, such as "GPU72", for example.

And I apologize for the confusion. This is a recent change, necessitated by the tightening of the assignment rules on Primenet. (Although it was previously documented.)
