Primenet vs worktodo.txt

Hi,

Until I can figure out what is causing this mix-up I am having, my CPU will be disconnected from Primenet. I'll continue to submit results as they are created but there won't be any progress reports.

I've been trying to set up a manual P-1 factoring test that isn't assigned by Prime95 but it was repeatedly erased from my worktodo.txt. I finally managed to get it to stick when I used Prime95 itself to generate the worktodo line (identical to what I had been trying, but now "officially" recognized).

However, because I want to get started on this quickly, I tried moving it to a different worker queue or advancing it in the queue, but after communication with primenet everything would get reset to what it was before.

While trying to figure this out, I noticed that four of the manual DC's I grabbed last month to test out the beta version never got done, and trying to add those to my worktodo.txt has been giving me the same grief.

Until I can figure out how to get the program to follow worktodo.txt instead of following what Primenet thinks my worktodo.txt ought to be, I'm cutting communication.

As a side note, this will explain my four 33-days-no-progress DC manual assignments.

Potentially insulting question:
Are you exiting, rather than just stopping, Prime95 before editing the worktodo.txt file?

 ...no?

And no insult taken, either. I've dealt with enough "Is it plugged in?" situations that I make a point of not getting insulted myself.

Back to the point, then, do I need to exit Prime95 first?

Definitely yes. Made that mistake myself quite a bit.

You can add files without shutting down by using a worktodo.add file. Unfortunately, this does add them at the end of each worker's existing assignments. But definitely shut down if you want to shuffle things around.

Might need N/A if primenet thinks it is not reqd or already done.

Alright. I'd gotten used to adding lines directly to worktodo for mfaktc so I didn't realize it was different for Prime95.
