How to not get new WUs
Due to my laptop's overheating problems, I am going to have to stop doing GIMPS, though I'm not quitting or deleting my account, until I can get a new laptop, so I just wanted to know how to stop my program from getting new WUs after I submit the last one running. I've already unreserved all the others that were assigned to me. Thank you.

In Prime95, click Advanced > Quit GIMPS and then click Yes to complete your current assignments before quitting.
|
"NoMoreWork=1"
Put it in two config files (local/prime.txt) |
Thank you. I hope it won't be too long before I can start again.

Have you tried putting your laptop on a fan base? I have two running 24X7 that sit on Zalman fan bases. |
I would suggest disassembling your laptop and cleaning all the dust from heat-sink, at the same time it may be a good idea to replace thermal compound on CPU with some after-market solution. Having done that I have lowered temps in my laptop from 90s to 70s (Celsius).

My method of getting no new tasks is to go to Options>Preferences and set 'Days of work to queue up:' to 0.
This works on Prime95, but Mprime doesn't seem to accept 0 as a valid setting, so I manually set DaysOfWork=0 in prime.txt |
