put a 32 core Xeon to quick but good use
This Xeon is just sitting here with 32 threads available, it's 2off E5-2687W @ 3.1GHz. Quite fancy.
It CAN'T be used all the time to run primes because it's kind of noisy and the machine runs other jobs too. I was wondering if there is any _quick_ checks which could be run in the machine? Let's say for a couple of hours, up to 1 day or 2 ? I'd be glad to make the machine available for that. Cheers |

With NFS@Home you will not find if the machine works well or not (passes the tests). You could join PrimeGrid and attach to some quick tests (e.g. ) http://www.primegrid.com/prefs.php?subset=project The link "Edit PrimeGrid preferences" in the middle of this page will have approximate running times. Their website takes some time to get used to and find where is what but you can ask on their forum. |

(of which we see a lot). |

I run an ECMNET server at 83.217.167.177:8194 --- contact me for more detail if you would like to contribute. Paul |
That doesn't mean you can't run Prime95 on it. You can use PauseWhileRunning to ensure that it yields to more "important" jobs and/or runs only during certain hours.
