mfakto 0.13 with Windows 8.1
I am having some trouble running mfakto 0.13 with Windows 8.1, mfakto is freezing on the 4th self test. I also have updated the graphics driver for Windows 8.1, but this did not help. Everything worked fine with Windows 8.
Has anyone else seen this problem or have any ideas? Thanks. |
I've not tried Windows 8.1 yet, but when I updated to the newest Catalyst drivers last week I was unable to run mfakto anymore. Have you tried rolling it back to a previous version? I use Windows 8 also.
|
No rolling back the driver did not help. I returned to Windows 8 from a backup so I could continue running.
|
Also found the same problem with windows 7. Catalyst 13.9 drivers lock up mfakto 0.13 at self test 4, version 13.1 works. Somewhere between 13.1 and 13.9 something bad happened.

I'm trying to reproduce that standalone in order to bring it up with AMD. Getting AMD's driver uninstall tool is currently NOT recommended for Win8x ... yet the normal downgrade fails to remove the files at times. After removing the newer version, you may need to manually find and remove amdocl*dll files from your system before you can successfully install 13.1 or before. |
Ah crap. I used that tool on my Win 8 like 3 or 4 times now.

Reports usually mention blue screens or startup failures. If that did not happen to your box, then maybe it worked well ... |
mfakto crashes on Windows 7 and 8, 12.10 and 12.11 respectively. I believe I recall that 12.8 worked.

Are you sure about 12.11 and 12.10? This could be again something different than what I found and reported ... But I see my error that I did not try the test program on 13.1 and before ... Maybe I can try that tomorrow. |

Don't know. I'll have to experiment more... When I have time. I'm almost 100% sure that 13.1 was not the last one working for me, 13.1 is the only(latest) one without the cpu bug. I might be wrong... standby.... |
The 13.6 beta was definitively working, but slower. The 13.8 was not. I think I said at the time (win7 64). Someone :) here on the forum advised me about the tool to erase the drivers, which did the trick on win7.
Currently using 13.1. No idea, however, how the things go under win8. |
