Opinion: Oklahoma Tornados
Oklahoma got exactly what it deserved.
This highly bigotted state voted to deny rights to LGB people and placed those laws in their constitution. LGB are explicitly excluded from protection against hate crimes. Attacks against LGB and their supporters are rampant in this state. It is one of the most red-neck, bigotted, and intolerant states in the U.S. The tornados are God's retribution for their hatred. |
Oklahoma < snip > hatred.
Is this your satire on the way that fundies said [Hurricane Katrina|Hurrican Sandy|insert other weather event here] was God's retribution?

They are not so rich as people of other states, but this is something which strengthens them. Being in the past one of Confederate states has some influence. Statement that tornadoes are God's retribution is very silly. |

Evangelical Preachers (e.g. Falwell) have said: AIDS is God's punishment for being gay. Yes, it is tossing the fundies arguments back at them. See also: http://users.humboldt.edu/mstephens/hate/hate_map.html# |

Furthermore: Their religion is not an excuse for their hatred and intolerance. Jesus preached brotherhood and tolerance. These people do anything but follow his teachings./ |

I guess this is similar to Al-Qaeda blaming each and every American for whatever it is that AQ were fighting against. I wonder if some outside alien race is saying "Earth got exactly what it deserved ..." because we didn't vote in the local celestial elections against the persecution of <insert some random underprivileged alien planet here>. Curious. |
LOL!
This thread certainly brings RDS into focus for me. After all these years, some of the mystery that has always surrounded his remarks has now been cleared up for me. Check my location. I can assure you I am rich, not bigoted, redneck, or intolerant. However, I certainly know of someone else in this thread who appears to have some of these traits though. How about we stick to math and computers? That might save some embarrassment (whether they realize it or not) from those who otherwise appear to be quite bright. |

Thr religious right certainly had no problem in blaming Sandy on everyone in its path. It's too bad that you fail to recognize irony. |
I appreciated the argument, RDS :)
I generally refer to this as the 700 club line of reasoning. But, it also follows from the Westboro Conjecture. It is sad that many people seem to be missing the joke. (though to be fair it is a little soon post-tragedy) Chap. PS. I imagine when the replies think about it they will feel a bit foolish. |
