Cargo Bridge?
1 Attachment(s)
Cargo Bridge is just a silly game but it is very addictive and fun.
We grew weary of playing it in a little window so we extracted the .swf file and uploaded it to the forum server. We think this is okay because it still plays ads. Plus, the main web page has code to embed the game so we think they want people playing it. (And viewing ads.) On our 1920×1080 screen it is a delight to play. We have two monitors and we can span the window across both, but there is a gap in the middle where the monitors meet. (Some levels are very wide and require horizontal scrolling.) It is not very fun to play on an iPhone! We are currently trying to get the maximum money per level and to create the longest bridge. Click here to play. Our best challenge bridge thus far is 43 meters. Getting to 43 meters has taken us all day. We originally thought the game was a bit flaky but we now believe it is very critical to have beam junctions that are meant to be square actually squared up. We were stuck at 31 meters for a few hours until we got more precise with our beam placement. We doubt this game models actual bridge stress analysis but it is still a lot of fun. Maybe post your thoughts? |

We zipped up our image of our 43 meter bridge to spoilerize it.

nice one. and the box don't break the wooden bridge?

Thank you, we are really enjoying this game. The six year old in the family is quite adept at it. The three year old is not so adept but he puts in a good effort. We saw there was a version of it for our tablet and got that edition. It's similar to another game called Link that we enjoy. The animation is this one is more fun for us.

We are up to 44 meters on our challenge bridge.
 Without a design change we think we are at the limit. It took us around four hours to make! We are currently stuck on level 16. :bangheadonwall: |
Can we spam your email addy shown in the first post?
Can we spam your email addy shown in the first post?
We suppose you can, but we hope you do not.
:alien2: In other news, we are now stuck on level 20 ($10,597) and we have completed a 45 meter challenge bridge. :showoff: |
I found a solution for level 20. It wasn't pretty but it worked. There was a fundamental point of enlightenment that eluded me for a quite some time but then it was much easier. I can elaborate, without giving away the solution, if anyone wants.
I'm stuck on level 21. I made some progress with the falling barrels but my guys can't get the elephants up the slope. At these levels the challenges are significant and the younger ones in the family are primarily useful for cheerleading but they've enjoyed going back to the earlier levels to try different designs. In the spirit of the season, Santa's Engineer is a really great physics game (but for iOS only as far as I know). We have it as well as SimplePhysics and Dummy Defense from the same developer. -Don |
I'm stuck on level 21. I made some progress with the falling barrels but my guys can't get the elephants up the slope.
We solved level 21. The solution we found was very ugly.
We thought the elephants were easy compared to the falling boxes. We must be missing something obvious with the boxes. We are too burned out to even try level 22 until maybe tomorrow. :ick: |

Without having played, it looks a little bit like a game called "Bridge Builder" which I believe really calculates stresses in the bridge beams / ropes / etc. There is a free trial version and the full version is cheap.
