It says it's up but I still can't access it? Why?

WMHalsdorf 2012-11-24 20:52

No problem accessing it aside from once accessed it want to redirect me to another page. I'm using Firedox.

cheesehead 2012-11-27 00:18

I'm accessing that page right now with Firefox and Internet Explorer simultaneously. Looks the same, and okay, in both browsers.

Perhaps it's a matter of whether your IE is up-to-date with latest fixes?

Could it simply be a case of one or two temporarily disfunctional routers on the internet? Until a few years ago it was very common for a site to be temporarily inaccessible to users from a particular part of the world but working normally for everyone else, due to a router problem. This phenomenon seems to occur much less often now, maybe because there are more routers in service and alternative routes are easier to find if one goes down. But surely the problem still can occur?

The solution was always simply to wait for a while. The router problem would be corrected in due course. So the question, Stargate38, is whether you are still unable to access the site now.

Great! It works!
