If you can provide the command you used and any input files, I'll take a look at this.

Thanks for taking a look. I have included my start and resume bat files and my log with everything in it including the errors. Please ask Greg for the main L1213 DAT file 16.7 gig download. If Greg no longer has itI can upload the file if you can provide server space. If you require me to upload the file I will start the upload processed in just under 24 hours as I am not sure whether or not I can complete the hole up load with in 8 or 9 hours. Please note I have not made any changes to the start the bat file it is still using version 1.51 I will restart the LA process with large block version 1.51 Sorry my start file is not correct but I do know what I need to change to get it to go I just need to change the application name |

I really won't be able to help with this. But if anyone has any examples of crashes that arise from small input sets, I will be happy to take a look at them. |

Thanks Brian, hopefully somebody will be able to help us with what is going on. |

Have you tried using that build msieve just on a small number that you can finish within an hour or so to see if the same crash happens so Brian can try to see what is going on? Jeff. |

Jeff.
I'm not sure if this idea was directed at me? I could try downloading a test case tomorrow and run it again. However if it errors out Brian will still need to download the files to replicate the error and see what's going on. Has anybody else run this code successfully on windows? Brian if you read this can you please let me know if you have run a test with the.DAT file from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~twomack/i7test.zip it is almost the size of a CD Thanks |
Yes it was directed at you. You are the one that is reporting the crashes right? I'm trying to see if you can find a small test case where it crashes so that Brian can easily reproduce the crash and then try to fix the problem. It would also tell us if msieve is always crashing for you or just in certain cases. |
Brian, Jeff: the new Msieve version now always requires a pthreads library DLL. The 32-bit download I posted includes the library from 32-bit MinGW, but that may or may not work on a 64-bit system.
Jarod, you are expected to use -nc2 or -ncr, not both. Though if you do specify both then you will get a restart from checkpoint and not a do-over of the whole linear algebra. |
I 7 test zip results

I downloaded the test case from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~twomack/i7test.zip unzipped everything into the msieve152_svn902 folder and the application pretty much crashed as timid that started. Please find log and the bat file attached.
Jeff one thing I did notice was that in the description of the file on your website there is a different number to the number in the name of the file. In the description it says 1.52dev SVN 903 (compiled by Brian Gladman) in the link at says msieve152_svn902_win64_i7.zip . I think this is just a cosmetic issue but I thought I would point out. I hope my results are helpful for Brian, Jason and Jeff. |

Hi Jason This should not be a problem since I'm building msieve for Windows with a static pthreads library. |
