Here's my "essay". Bush and Hitler were both democratically elected heads of states of powerful nations. Each led their countries into invading other nations. Although Hitler was by far the better orator, he was also much more authoritarian and presided over a profoundly represssive state. His (Hitler's) policies ultimately led to the mass killing of disfavoured minorities (principally the Jews but a number of others too, including political oponents) both in his country and in those which his armed forces had invaded. Bush's rule, in contrast, was largely tolerant of conflicting views held by others. There: what is so controversial about that? |
You forgot the legacy part of the comparison, e.g. "Hitler's warmongering was stopped in under a decade, albeit at tremendous cost. Bush's warmongering, on the other hand, while less costly during his time in office, shows no sings of abating. Indeed many would argue that for Bush and the neocons - and now the neolibs, too - perpetual warmongering is a feature, not a bug."
Also, "Hitler paid the price for his war crimes. Bush et al did not." Another good "legends matchup" is Hitler v Napoleon. |
I think that the request was wrong formulated. By "comparison" it does not say if finding similarities or differences is intended. If I would have been the teacher, then I would formulate my homework like "Find 100 similarities between Bush and Hitler".
p.s. Reading Ernst's post I see that it is nothing wrong asking for the differences too... |

In this case Torturers includes the prosecution, but in a larger "unlawful deprivation of civil rights" vein, it fits:

If anyone can dig up any actual *evidence* (as in probative, admissible, non-mere-hearsay) produced in the above case, please let us know. |
