Favorite TV Ads

Finally a thread davieddy can spam with YouTube links - as long as they are on-topic.

Post video-clip links to your favorite funny TV ads here - If the "funny" is cultural-contextual, please explain, e.g. "Norwegians may not find this very funny because the Swedish manufacturer featured in the ad is subtly poking fun at King Olaf the Girly-Voiced..."

Some ads I like, but can't figure out who sings the jingles:

Buckeye Superstore (Who on Earth sings their jingle?!)
Carpetland USA (same question as previous)
Reeses Puffs (Rapper has all clean lyrics )
Most car commercials (My mom drives a :ford:)

And some that I love for their content/phone numbers:
Discovery/Science Channel ads
Boomerang's ads are somewhat funny.
1-800-Petmeds (their phone number is a prime: 18007386337=(96576+93169i)*(96576-93169i))
Safelite Auto Glass (for same reason as previous. Notice the pattern: 800-800-2727 is a Gaussian prime with imaginary part zero)

That's a lot of commercials! I can't think of any others. Can someone around here please tell me who sings the jingles to the top 3? Look them up on Youtube to hear the jingles and you'll see why I like them.

Jax beer animated commercials. I only found 2 on a quick search. They're good, and typical, but not the funniest ones I remember.

The Guardian: The Whole Picture
I remember this one from when I was still a UK citizen 20 years ago. I still think it's impressive.

Pfizer Viagra ad rips off Spinal Tap song

Was watching the news last night and the broadcast cut to one of those now-ubiquitous boner-pill ads. You know, the ones showing some excessively "confident happy-looking" graying-yet-hunky middle-aged dude engaging in some manly, maverickish "plow my own furrow" (or my [strike]young mistresses'[/strike] wife's, after popping a couple of these here pills) activity utterly unlike that practiced by 99.99% of graying-yet-hunky middle-aged men. Like roaming the high country of Montana in one's reliable and maverickishly large pickup truck, checking the, um, ranching equipment, all while "not letting erectile dysfunction slow you down", whatever that means (I think I'd probaby rather not know) in the context of roaming the high country of Montana in one's reliable pickup truck, checking the ranching equipment, cattle crossing, gates, fences and stacks of winter hay, and such. The typical voiceover is along the lines of "because you're at the age where you know what you want..." and what you want is a raging pill-fueled 4-hour priapic boner, gosh darnit.

Here's a YouTube clip of one of the ads.

Some of the clip comments are priceless, such as

"my truck seems to be stuck. I'll just get a boner and all my problems will be solved."

Anyhow, last night I was slower than usual on the Mute button, and caught the ad with sound on, which reminded me that the theme music was strangely familiar. One of the commenters to the above YouTube clip notes

For those who want to know the song being played, it's Smokestack Lightning by Howlin' Wolf

I beg to differ. After some time it came to me - they ripped off the music to the classic Spinal Tap song Gimme Some Money. Listen to that clip - admittedly not one beseeching you to become a pill-popping boner junkie - and tell me the music is not startlingly similar.

They should have simply modified the lyrics of the original song to be subject-apt:

Stop wasting my time
You know what I want
You know what I need
Or maybe you don't

Do I have to come right flat out and tell you everything?
Gimme some sugar, gimme some sugar

I'm nobody's fool
I'm nobody's clown
I won't let erectile dysfunction
Go get me down

But baby I don't intend to leave empty handed
Gimme some sugar, gimme some sugar
Oh yeah! Go Nigel, Go!

Gimme some sugar, gimme some sugar
Gimme some sugar, gimme some sugar

Don't get me wrong (Gimme some sugar, gimme some sugar)
Try getting me right (Gimme some sugar, gimme some sugar)
Your face is OK
But your purse is too tight (If ya know what I mean)
Check out my gray mane, pickup truck, pill stash of confidence
Gimme some sugar, gimme some sugar
