Olympics
Anyone going? I know davieddy likes to keep fit.
I could have forced the finances but my health is dodgy. I'm near Gatwick so just a few miles away, about a ten hour drive apparently. |
Already been to 2 Olympic events. Different year, different land.

London 2012 is certainly interesting so far even before it has started.

I'll be there! Woo-hoo!

Other athletics competitions I have been to cost half as much (or less) for the whole six or seven days. I live at the western end of the Central Line so I will probably get a seat for the journey to the stadium, which is good as summer is here and I recorded 35 C yesterday on the tube. It'll be cooler though if we set off at 6am to allow 2 hours to get into the olympic park... I'm trying not to think about about the catering options if they really are limited to McDonalds and Heineken. It'll be great. Richard |
Someone in town asked if football is part of the Olympic games. I responded that it is on the website, but since the website is made by the English, it probably isn't what she meant. She asked,"Oh, you mean soccer?" to which I responded,"Well, I didn't mean handegg."
Things went downhill from there, my humor isn't always appreciated. |

They could have broadcast it live on NBCSports instead of soccer replays from two days ago. Why would I want to watch GBR vs. Senegal again as opposed to the live opening ceremony? And they could still broadcast on main NBC during primetime. Jerks. |
Here is USA today's blog of the opening ceremonies. It's the only one I looked at because I was late looking for one and just stayed on the first search hit.
