any good BOINC projects?
Sorry if this offends any Prime95 fans, but I've been away from distributed computing for a while because BOINC was failing to work. Well, just now noticed that BOINC is working again for some oddball unknown reason, so I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any good BOINC projects to run.
I'm looking for something with an active community and responsive Admins. I hate a project where you can go months without some sort of update from the people doing the project. |
Why, [STRIKE]mersenne@home[/STRIKE] NFS@home, of course! ;->
Depends on what you really like. There are good GPU tasks at a certain BOINC site that has prime and grid in its name. And I can assure you that the level of attention you will get in their forums is second to [STRIKE]none[/STRIKE] only to MF. :smile: |

BTW, have you noticed that mersenne@home has been shut down by its administrator? |
Oh. I did not know that. RIP!
@Jason: it's a good thing to start with a few small size GFNs (that's how I debugged and eventually returned my card and got a non-defective one), don't jump into WR. Read the Genefer threads on their forums ("How to prevent Computation Errors" sticky). Genefer_cuda is quite sensitive to defective (or borderline) cards. The WR jobs will also take long to get credit (you will be pending the validation - maybe for weeks!). But when you do, a ruby badge is a piece of yellowcake. |
There's also RSALS.

Primegrid, with various CPU & GPU projects, Prime or Sieve projects.

Yoyo can be used to describe an unstable person, certainly not the type of person to successfully run a BOINC project with many happy users. |
:geek:
yoyo@home is running since 2007. Since that time many Boinc projects were created and disappeard :razz: yoyo |

Your state shows that you clearly forgot to take your pills. |
