M40 Poster Contest!

Yes, you could win one of these!

http://www.perfsci.com/souvenirs.html#nov2003

The poster will be shipped for free anywhere in the world...

How?

Submit a photograph of a famous or interesting location that includes a *large* poster containing the words "mersenneforum.org" in it... The entry must include a brief description of the famous place... If you cannot upload your picture, send me a private message and I will send you my address so you can mail me the photograph to be scanned and uploaded... You may enter as many times as you want, but only one photo will be considered for the contest... Entries posted will be judged by the following criteria:

30% Location: Obviously, the more obscure, famous or interesting the location, the more points you will get!

30% Posted Description: A small blurb is nice, but a detailed description, with interesting facts and links is worth a lot more! Your goal here is to entertain and educate... Links are appreciated, but the submission must be able to stand on its own without clicking the links... Don't underestimate the importance of this category!

30% Time: The earlier you post, the more points you get!

10% Extra credit: In case you decide to add some funny or bizarre stuff to the photo! (Please, keep it safe for kids!)
Who?

Anyone who is a registered member of this forum!

When?

Submit an entry between 6:54 AM TDT on December 22nd 2003 and 6:42 AM TDT on March 20th 2004... Remember, earlier submissions get more points! If you enter more than one photo, at the end you *must* tell us which photo you wish to have considered for the prize!

Hints:

Use the attachment feature to upload your picture...

Please be safe! Don't try to climb to the top of a pyramid or anything silly like that!

Please respect the environment! Please respect the local laws! Get permission before you do this!

Please don't Photoshop an entry... Believe me, people will figure it out!

Just because you live in a boring place does not mean you can't find something interesting to photograph! Remember, 30% is just for the write-up and there is 10% for bizarre stuff... Plus, if you enter early enough you can get a lot of extra points...

Please don't copy your description from a book or web site!

Including yourself in the photograph may be considered bizarre enough to count for extra credit, so consider this possibility!
Thanks!

Wow! Great idea, xyzzy! I am looking forward to see the first submissions and am already charging my digicam.

To satisfy my curiosity: Is the TDT in "6:42 AM TDT" referring to the terrestial time TT (that was called Terrestrial Dynamical Time once)? And: is AM/PM allowed in TT times? I don't want to be picky here, but you started using a timescale i never heard of

Xyzzy 2003-12-14 16:20

I think AM/PM is okay in TDT...

So, Photoshop is allowed?

Hmmm, it says "no Photoshop", but then again, it also says:

It seems like its something that could only be done in Photoshop...

I believe he meant in the picture as you take it.

You can't climb to the roof? :furious:

I have a balcony which I can directly climb to the ceiling. I've never tried it, and it's probably not safe enough. I wonder what a pyramid would be?

Probably like in Egypt but there might be other ideas.

No submissions yet?
