AppCrash with Prime95 v26.6
This crash has now occurred twice on different HP z800 machines
CPU has 6 core at 3.0Ghz (hyperthreaded), 12 workers, 12GB ram prime95 given 4GB and was running trial factoring Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: prime95.exe Application Version: 26.6.1.0 Application Timestamp: 4d9f7bf8 Fault Module Name: prime95.exe Fault Module Version: 26.6.1.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 4d9f7bf8 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000000000000938e OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.4 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: cb1a Additional Information 2: cb1aff9fb1e58ed177e2e97ba0a7cc51 Additional Information 3: 4319 Additional Information 4: 4319cea5aaef44f8ba4980ba70731bdf |
Sigh... there's probably not much anyone can do, but let's try anyways. What size numbers? 60M? 70M? 800M? What bit ranges? 70->71, or 64->65?
Btw, not really related to the crash, but mem allocation only matters if you're doing P-1 factoring. |
6 cores, 12 workers - that's your problem. Run 6 workers and set the affinity manually to 1 worker per physical core.

That should not cause Prime95 to crash, a priori. With trial factoring, the memory use is limited enough that I don't think there will be any tangible benefit to using one worker per physical core. |
