Welcoming the new mod ?
I think most of us know RDS he appears to be a mod on this forum now and I'd like to think he can do a good job.

I highly doubt that he would be given moderator powers, but I could be wrong. |

With all due respect, I think he's the worst imaginable moderator for this particular subforum. In my opinion, he shouldn't be able to view or post in this subforum, let alone moderate it! That would keep everyone happy. The cranks could continue their crankiness in peace and RDS could be ignorant of their (often willful) ignorance. |

I'm not sure that it would be that bad for the subforum; some of the posters here will be pleased to have even irascible attention from anyone with serious mathematical chops.
I'm more concerned with RDS's disposition. Mod duties will compel him to look the very type of content that tests his patience in a mathematically twisted variant of Eternal September |

I think RDS is quite tough against gibberish in the Math subforums (as opposed to Lounge or Misc-Math subforums). His idea (his definition) about math is like something which does not admit gibberish and jokes, and he can't understand that some of us do not have his level of knowledge and language. He sees the Math subforums as a place for very elevated discussions, which we can't really offer, or say, our understanding is that the Math subforums should admit also arithmetics, not only post-university-math discussions.
But he never argued against gibberish in the miscelaneous subforums or the lounge. He said to some guys posting "low-level" math in the "math" subforums: "go to misc math threads" (he said that to me too, two times!), so I think he is not against gibberish in the "lobby". Therefore I think he is ok like a mod here, and I don't know why you should be afraid of that... He likes the soap opera too, see his posts discussing general things, like economics, etc... |

How do I erase my profile from mersenneforum.org?
