I have been running Prime 95 on and on for a few years...I just completed a 100% running one of the tests when I found this in the comments.

M43112609 is prime! Wd1: 5B377150,00000000

What does this mean?

It means your computer found a Mersenne prime number. The bad news is that this prime number was discovered a few years ago by someone else.

Your computer was testing this number for one of two reasons. 1) You were curious about what the program would do if it found a prime number and used the Advanced/Test menu to re-test a known Mersenne prime, or 2) A server bug caused the exponent to be sent to your computer for testing.

I presume the cause is #2 and I apologize for the bug. On the plus side, you can now rest assured that your computer is working properly and should it be lucky enough to be assigned an undiscovered Mersenne prime, it will dutifully prove it prime.

PrimeNet must of had a glitch. When will we ever have bug-proof programs?
