Ok, this thread is for my farm detail.

There was some interest in my farm So, I'll post some info here. Feel free to try any of these concepts. Some of these maybe useful, some not. :)

Post#1 - network map, structure of the home network with machine parts detail.

Data is important to me. As mfaktc can have a rather large write frequency, I decided to run every instance (total=20 instances) from a ramdisk. The ramdisk saves an image every 8hours or so.

Sorry I don't have any exact figures on how much more performance I get from running from ramdisk.

Yes there's a risk that a failure causes me to lose some processing time. But given I update per hour to my NAS - the most I lose is an hour. Even if I lost an hour a day that's 5% lost. If your PC is power cycling more than an hour a day - you have bigger issues.

It wasn't like the brochure. :)

The network map looks a lot better. :)

3x of the PCs

Pictured here:
mc - left
gauss00 - top right
gauss03 - bottom right

Turnoff white fan - mc reboots, the hottest GPU on gauss00 goes up 5degC
Turnoff black fan - gauss03 reboots

:)

"Master control" so to speak.

And yes, turn off white fan - PC reboots.

Ok what's left to do:

Report power consumption.
Report temperatures

I only one one meter - so I need to power cycle 2x machines for very reading. It's a bit time consuming.

I need to go to bed soon. I can do this this week sometime.

What are the numbers next to each machine? .93, .90, etc.

How much did your farm cost?
How much time did it take to set it up?

IP addresses.

I don't want to know those figures. :)

It's been a project in the making for some time. Some of the hardware was purchased 2+years ago (i7-920/930). Some of it was a few weeks ago (AMD fx8120)

The positioning of those fans looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Yep; hitting the fan.
My favourite metaphor (both literally and metaphorically),
and one I always seem to be falling foul of:smile:
