Are your DNS settings sane? I tend to use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Those are Google DNS servers, they are fast, but could be a privacy concern for some. There are some alternative openDNS servers, but most of them have their own issues.

True. But I use GMail as my mail client, and an Android phone for telephony and mobile connectivity, so I figure Google already knows everything there is to know about me. Also, I have nothing to hide.

But... If one is seriously paranoid they can always run a local name server. Trivial under Linux; I have no idea under Winblows.

Here is a pretty good take from the Duck Duck Go search which was linked.

It should be quite clear by anyone who has read my posts here that I don't fear stating my honest opinion.

Instead of "nothing to hide," my mindset is "If 'THEY' want to get me for some reason,THEY can."
With total surveillance of communications, it is more a question of if one stands out enough to draw 'THEIR' attention. With the mass of data involved, it can't all be scrutinized at once. However, if one is NOTICED, then all one's baggage can be searched, as it were.

Last century (~'95-'97 or so) I was working in a shoes factory. Big, ~2000 workers. I was in charge of their computers which at the time were like 50 or 60 xt and versions of x86, second hands from west. They were running Novel Netware, and the stuff. Not a chalenging job at all, and no chances of any professional progress, but the pay was much better than at the university (where I was also working part time as profesor assitant, mainly holding the labs for Operating Systems courses). Once I found a hacker in the net. I kicked him/her out by changing the passwords here and there, and repairing the files he damaged, maybe it was some kid of somebody working there, knowing the passwords from his parents, but not that is the point. I tried to convince the management team, and actually nobody was worried, and nobody actually believed me, they all said something like "C'mon, who the hack is interested in data from a shoes factory? What, are we NASA, or something?".

Since that time, when somebody asks me how do I protect my computers, I use to answer, more or less joking, in the same way. Who the hack is interested of what an anonymous Romanian guy is doing in Thailand? Am I NASA or something? Anybody trying to hack into my computers, ransomware, whatever, is just wasting his time... Better send me a mail and I give you full access, haha...

We are hijacking the thread by my fault. Sorry for that. The discussion about "nothing to hide" should have been in the Government snooping, backdoors and #necessaryhashtags thread.

Just one last comment from me in this thread : in Turkey for instance, until recently, a lot of people, now in jail, also though they had nothing to hide. But you can not hide when it becomes necessary only, since it is to late then.

It appears this report has not been updated in eons. The same numbers appear all the time.

I'm not quite sure what you are seeing, but that report updates in "real-time", and generally changes several times per hour.

Could you possibly instead mean this report? If so, then you are correct; it rarely changes.

This is because the TF'ing is ahead of the P-1'ing, so the only time candidates of that class appear is when we enter a new range, and/or someone does an "independent" P-1 run.
