I'm now 0 for 200 in factoring assignments. 188 TF assignments (177 from GPU72, 11 from Primenet), 12 P-1 assignments.
I've gone as many as 430 TF in the current DCTF and LLTF ranges between factors ... and I'm sure others can top this.

Mark Rose 2015-09-25 20:28

I've got a streak of 383 no factors found results in my last 1000 assignments.

cuBerBruce 2015-09-25 20:41

Just in case I wasn't clear, I'm referring to a streak before finding my first factor, not merely a streak between factors. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if others have had longer streaks before finding their first factor.

Statistics has no memory.

Patience grasshopper.

Well, my waiting is over. In the first TF attempt that I started after the supermoon total eclipse, I finally found my first factor for GIMPS. :big grin:

:faf:

So when is the next total eclipse?
So when is the next total eclipse?
2018-Jan-31. Although there are some penumbral and a partial eclipse before then.

Maybe this one (2017) will lead to the next prime.

So the "big event" during the eclipse took place.

It is rarely a bad idea to keep non-perishables on hand.

I guess the people predicting some sort of event during the lunar eclipse must have had something far more spectacular in mind than cuberbruce finally factoring something. They should have set their sights much *much* lower.
