I've received two of these today:
Processing result: no factor for M57106099 from 2^72 to 2^73 [mfakto 0.12-Win barrett15_75_2]
Error code: 40, error text: TF result for M57106099 was not needed
Minor concern: no PrimeNet credit. Major concern: PrimeNet doesn't reflect the higher factoring: 57106099 And thus doesn't get picked up by GPU72. |
Is this number still valid? I don't remember what it said on the assignments page, and when I try to go there, I get
Yes, the expiry policy has not changed. If you need to extend the assignments, you can do on your "View Assignments" page. The reason the system isn't letting you reserve any more is because you already have 25 days worth -- it doesn't seem to make sense to let someone who's only five days away from having assignments expire reserve more. PM me if you want an exemption. Otherwise, please just complete some you already hold and the system will let you take some more. |

First of all, you got the link to Primenet wrong. It's actually 57106099, and Primenet did pick up the result. Now, why you were assigned this... Unfortunately, it appears from the records that Jaxon unreserved this from his GPU72 assignments at 2012-07-28 15:53:34, after being assigned it at 2012-07-24 12:06:12. You were then assigned it at 2012-07-28 16:59:23. Jaxon must have then submitted the completed result a short while later -- the system detected that it has been taken to 73 at 2012-07-28 21:45:20. (All times are UTC.) Sorry about this. I'm afraid there's not much I can do in such cases. When it was assigned to you it was still at 72. If there's any upside, you received the credit on GPU72, not Jaxon... |
Whoops, sorry about that. I was trying to unreserve all my assignments except for the ones I had running at the time, but I didn't realize that there would be assignments on the list that I had already completed but failed to submit.
Anyway I found myself needing to find ways to lower the power bill and unfortunately GIMPS and GPU72 were first on the chopping block. Hopefully I can find a way to move some of my equipment into my office (where electricity is included with the rent) and rejoin you guys soon. |
DOH! (scanned for '099; didn't double check). So long as PrimeNet is accurate I'm cool with the occasional hiccup. |

No worries; stuff happens. I just wish I had investigated a couple of hours earlier; just submitted another one 57106411. I did check all remaining assignments and they are clear. |

(To be clear, there are no DCs under 30M, there are 16 extra LLs above 50M, the default DC range is now 1-100000000, and even with all defaults I can't get an assignment. "Sorry... No assignments available which match your criteria." Edit: Well now I can get those assignments, but I'm not particularly interested in 30M when there's gotta be some lower ones left?) |

Yeah, an unusual case occurred just now... Someone who will remain unnamed asked for and was assigned the entire cache of 100 low DC candidates. Additionally, the system had a [strike]bug[/strike]feature which didn't allow candidates above 30M to be assigned as DCs. This has been fixed, but it should be an unusual situation -- the cache will fill up again after midnight UTC. Also, to let everyone know, because of a new feature I'm about to release to the public the cache sizes have been increased from 100 to 200 for LLs and DCs. |
Hmm... I kinda like that feature that you've just "fixed". Perhaps reinstate it with some sort of message about the feature? Had I seen such a message, I wouldn't have posted that it was broken. (I still would have posted about the 26M tests, but you've since explained that.)

I think a better solution is to simply let people set an upper bound on the assignment form, and then add the AJAX preview function already available on the TF and P-1 assignment forms. This will let people see just how low "Low" really is at that moment.... |
Not exactly about GPU272 status, but somehow related...
