Should the system e-mail notices?
Hey all.
Since the system has been running for just over six weeks now, this is the first time this situation has occurred. My question is: should the system e-mail Workers to warn them of assignments which are at risk of expiring? I personally hate spam, and don't like having 'bots send e-mail. But perhaps in this case it would be useful. Thoughts? |

I might suggest bolding the message about expiry after 1 month and clarify how to "...extend upon request." |

Or lock checkout of more work if some assignment are due (Something along the line of:"You need to extend your current assignment before queuing more work")? Can we extend assignment? |
Emailing the user would be useful. User-configurable, of course, so users can opt out if they don't want to be warned by email.

Sustained. User configurable should do it too. One month for TF is quite ok. One can do at least 2k bitlevels per month and I don't see why you should reserve more at a time. I usually reserve 100 expos (100 to 300 bitlevels) for each mfaktc copy, at a time, and have no headache for 2-3 days. |
Is there any way to retrieve DC/LL assignment keys? I got one to run for CUDALucas, which wound up not working.

Do you mean "from GPu-2-72"? You have to ask chalsall to resend you the key. If you mean "from Primenet" (if you already reported the reservation, and have the exponent on your name), then go to your own assignment report page on gimps, and when you see the table, rightclick on the page (in firefox) and say "show page source". Scroll down till you see your exponents and the assignment keys. Copy/paste them and re-make (manually) your worktodo file. Takes one minute. |

That depends... The system does retain the "true", "Anonymous" AID for assigned DC/LL work. I need to extend the "View Assignments" page to allow for two new functions: "Regenerate worktodo.txt" and "Extend Assignments" for selected candidates. Until this is done (a few days away -- I have many meetings scheduled), you'll have to PM me which candidates you want the AID for (or to be extended). If, on the other hand, the DC/LL work was unassigned by Prime95 back to PrimeNet, then no. Such work is intentionally passed back to the control of the Worker and PrimeNet; G72 has no control once the Worker's Prime95 client claims the assignment with PrimeNet even though it knows the AID. |
Feature request: Can you put somewhere on the View Assignments page the same kind of data that appears if you try and request "too much" work, something like this?
You currently have <120> assignments totaling <800>GHz-days of work, which at your current average of <25>GHz-days/day is <32> days of work.
Good idea. Done. Also, if you're within five days of having exponents expire, it warns you about this explicitly as well. I'll also add this notice to the LL and DC TF assignment pages shortly. |
