Scheduled outage for GPU72.
Just a notice to everyone...
This next Saturday at 1600 UTC (2012.06.09.1600) (noon EDT) there will be a scheduled outage for the GPU72 system. The window should be less than two hours. This is simply to reboot the machine to upgrade the kernel, plus to add a new field to one of the larger MySQL tables. The machine should only be unreachable for about five minutes during the reboot, but during the "ALTER TABLE" run new assignments will not be available, and completed work will not be detected. Also, queries will be quite slow. I will post again here when the work has been completed. |
Noon EDT  ('Twould be 1100 EST.:razz:)
PS I don't like DST either. It gets confusing when half the year I'm in a different time zone than the other half. |

LOL... Should have given it in Barbados time; we don't do daylight savings, and it's currently the same as eastern.... |

If your "daylight" lasts 12 hours/day all year long, you wouldn't reallly need to bother about it. Ernst (albeit at a smaller latitude) agrees with me that we like sunshine late in the evening, rather than morning. Synchronicity is another matter. Why in the name of *** do some places feel the need for a half-hour discrepancy? David PS my old Dad said he loved "Double (2hours) Saving" during the war. |

OK. We're back. |
Suspect LL
At approximately 1300 UT my one LL worker completed a Suspect LL of 45483679. The story of this exponent is that I restarted it twice after it reported possible errors (1 round off > 0.4 on the completed run), and after repeated torture tests did not show errors. These errors (on all three attempts) occurred while I was using Adobe Bridge CS5, which is a 32 bit app, even though the Photoshop it is associated with is 64 bit. On these occasions Bridge crashed, and at some times took Firefox with it. The errors showed up in P95-64 after these crashes. It should be noted that P-1 workers were likely using about 3/4 of the 16 GB of memory at these times.
As of 0510 UT M45483679 still shows that it is assigned to me, though PrimeNet reports it completed. Is is possible that this assignment can be retained in GPU72 for someone to DC? EDIT: I have since upgraded to Photoshop CS6, which includes a 64 bit Bridge. I have not seen any crashes since, but there have not been enough time and usage to be certain of that this change eliminated the problem. |

Not unless "AnonSpidy" happens to capture it again, which it doesn't appear to have done in this case. Keep in mind that for LL and DC assignments, the worker actually "owns" it; GPU72 is simply monitoring its progress. |
OK. Thanks, chalsall.
EDIT: Is it normal that such an assignment is still in my GPU72 Assignments list? It has been some hours since it reported to PrimeNet. |

PrimeNet shows 45483679 has been assigned on 6/10/2012 to ANONYMOUS, but GPU72 shows it in Assignments. Am I missing something? |

Am I missing something?
Could it be because your PN username is different? But then none of your other assignments would appear as completed... |

It hasn't been a problem before. All my Manual Testing results show up on PrimeNet. Thanks for the thought, though. |
