It would be really great if David can, on his currently imposed limitation, show himself capable of limiting his postings to his quality ones with genuine wit and/or serious content so that such a per-month diet becomes feasible. We would not want to see him blow his month's supply in a couple of days on trivial/irrelevant/offensive posts and then undergo another "ban" for the rest of the month.

The current strategy may just be showing some results - even if he's not quite there yet - because, thanks to NBtarheel_33's initiative, he recently used his ration to [URL="http://www.mersenneforum.org/showpost.php?p=306018&postcount=10"]express his views[/URL] in a more coherent, serious manner than I've ever seen before.

I see a link to the Guardian's obituary of Sally Ride, an irrelevant youtube link, followed by an offensively sexist, equally irrelevant, two-word comment. If David posted something helpful to mark Sally Ride's passing, I can't find it anymore: maybe you could repost it here yourself or otherwise paraphrase it?
There are many people who will have been saddened by Sally Ride's early death and will have appreciated the genuine tributes to her here, including your own contribution which revealed the nature of her longterm relationship with Tam O'Shaugnessy. I first learned of that when I read the link which you posted. I can only guess at the pressure the two women were under, feeling forced to hide their couple status from public view while they were both alive.

Subscribing to this. That post should not have been deleted. Regardless of the fact that it was one of the few posts of David which was not a waste, it was also the post which taught me about the famous American women (yes I wiki-ed for her).

We have a new usergroup where all posts by a member have to pass through moderation before they get posted for real.

A system like that might be helpful in davieddy's case but finding a super mod who is willing to deal with the volume of his posts might not be.

FWIW, Mister Silverman's account is in this new usergroup. Whether he decides to start posting again is up to him. He hasn't asked to have his ban lifted but the super mods decided to take this route because they value his input, when it is positive.

I was just re-reading again the 'Monday' and 'Tale of the Troika'. Very slowly - mainly in the gym, while on the stairmaster. ...but I go there so rarely. Hence, the slowness.

What was the cause of death? Heart attack, stroke, cancer, or other? If "other", then please tell me the cause.
