Looking at the various online takes on what "civilization" means is interesting.
Wikipedia's seems kind of dark to me, presuming social stratification IMPOSED BY a controlling elite, for example. I do not accept that high level of totalitarianism as a requirement or desirable feature for civilization.

merriam-webster is circular with civilized.
A lot of what I read in the news does not seem very civilized, or online posts civil, in the sense of [url]https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/civil[/url] 2b

That was one of the tiny glaciers compared to (say) the mighty Vatnajokull, but yes, sign of the times.

A great way to see the large inland glaciers is from the deck of one of the ferries that run between the south coast and the Vestmannaeyjar (Westman) Islands, e.g. Heimaey.
