Groklaw
This is a shocker to say the least.
I was tempted to comment on it because I regularly visit the site, but then I noticed that I've created two threads on Groklaw in the Linux subforum. One thread that I created the previous time that she announced an end of operations persisted at the top of the Linux subforum for months (and Groklaw did not actually end that time). I will miss Groklaw and the detailed coverage of court cases. The news picks RSS feed from Groklaw has also been quite interesting to me. I do not think the SCO fight would have been the same without her.

Just watched the recent movie in tribute. It's remarkably close to the original, despite Hollywood's incentives, but Grendel's mother is a travesty. I particularly liked the way in which Grendel himself and, subsequently, a bard retelling his demise spoke only in Old English.
p.s.: Paul, are you referring to the 2007 film starring Angelina Jolie?
That's the one. Well worth watching, again IMAO.

RIP Chester F Carlson Sep 19, 1968

Chester Floyd Carlson, passed away Sep 19, 1968. Inventor of electrophotography (Xerography). Although someone else is called the "father" of laser printers, I consider Carlson to be the "grandfather" since the process is directly based on his invention.

He was extremely modest and lived in an unassuming house. When friends asked what he did, he said he worked for Xerox. He gave most of his fortune away to charity.
