I first heard of him when I was quite young, from the funny radio ads for Blue Nun wine. But the introduction to those ads puzzled me. I asked, "Mom, what's stiller and mirror?" Stiller and Meara were quite a team. I still remember those ads for what I later came to call "Leap frog milk."

Fred Willard:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Willard

I first saw him as Martin Mull's sidekick in the hilarious "Fernwood Tonite" show;
but I thought he really shined in Christopher Guest's mockumentary movies such as "Best in Show", "Waiting for Guffman", and "A Mighty Wind".

Doh - you forgot the best Guest mocku of them all, 1984's This Is Spin̈al Tap - Willard played the Air Force official showing the band the ballroom, where they proceeded to provide suitable music for the numerous slow-dancing couples in form of "Sex Farm" blasted at eardrum-bleed levels, and Nigel ended up throwing down his guitar and stomping offstage because his wireless pickup was picking up USAF air traffic control messages from the nearby tower.

None of you will know of him, but he was an important friend and co-worker of mine from many years ago. Amazingly bright man. He always loved learning new stuff!

Sadness.

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
Part of the Covid cull being carried out by the UK govt.?
I very much doubt it.

The UK govt. appear to be culling its population at essentially the same efficiency as the Spanish and Italian governments but nowhere near as effectively as their Brazilian counterpart.
