Mort Drucker, caricaturist/cartoonist for Mad Magazine, and others. I was a huge fan of Mad's satire and cynicism "back in the day" (50+ years ago).

He usually drew in "outside" characters somewhere -- the first example that pops into my mind, in "Mission Ridiculous" -- the satire of the TV series "Mission Impossible," he piled on the repeated observation that the team's activities would be viewed as suspicious by nearly anyone, by drawing Adolph Hitler into one panel, with a thought bubble: "Very suspicious..." I also remember a form of exaggeration he used in drawing his characters that took me a while to identify, though it was obvious he was doing something. He drew the heads too big in proportion to the bodies. MAD Magazine did not run any advertisements. That meant their people didn't give a :censored: about who they might offend, and didn't even have to think about pulling their punches. It was a magazine, take it for all in all, I shall not look upon its like again. Rest in peace, Mort Drucker. |

They're dropping like flies today. To be fair, T B-T is the youngest at 79 of those I've noted. |
