P-1 stage 2

It's taken 400MB of the 1000MB I had,
and the effect on other stuff is tangible.
I'm afraid more details may follow.

Well it's wiped out "my favourites" list for starters.

That is a BIG time bummer, and sufficient to deter anyone.
F*** O** Mr P-1

Add more RAM; it's so cheap nowadays! I have a machine with 16GB that I use to do P-1. (Don't look now, but I'm higher in the P-1 rankings than Mr. P-1! http://mersenne.org/report_top_500_P-1/)

THX mate, but I'd rather shag a sheep than a RAM

Uhh, you really can't blame Mr P-1 for your buggy, super-complicated operating system.

Best to stop the P-1 process, then use task manager to see that you actually have 300M+ of real (physical), not virtual memory available. If not, then P-1 is not for the machine you have.

Also, windows can often be fixed often by re-booting. Sometimes twice. I've seen it "just decide" to re-boot after the machine sat cooling off for an hour or two. Just don't run P95 at startup.

Was I supposed to run a few more bits of TF on your assignment?

Where do you sit in the rankings? Why so rude?

I don't know at one time I used a id another I didn't but now I do nothing because it makes the most sense as I don't see my machine as useful ( I know some think I'm certainly not). it just doesn't make sense to me to care about being one of 46 but obviously that's just me.

If you think about it, doing some work for GIMPS might induce the rest of us cut you some extra slack....and think a little differently about you.

I just don't see what more than a week of likely slowed down computer and number crunching accomplishes outside of keeping me on this forum.
