"Popular" Books

I was trying to find the post where Bob advised me to stick
to unpopular ones, but couldn't find it.

First of all "popular" can mean "enjoyable to read" or "written for
non-specialist readers".

Secondly I would say (as a slow reader) that enjoyable books are
more fun than the reverse, although if I really want to know something I can do with it straight (no jokes required).

Thirdly what is the interpretation of "The Populus"???

As I thought I said, when you really need to know something,
no humour is required:smile:

David

PS but it doesn''t go amiss.

No.
You must be thinking of this immortal song:

David

PS Don't know whether you'd call the song "poplar".
More of an acquired taste I would have thought.

Sorry

In case that post was too heavy:

or

PS There is a fabulous duet between Billie and Lester Young on one of these 1936(?) sessions, which I haven't found on YouTube yet.
