How to enter password in prime.txt?
Hi,
I went to set up mprime in my gentoo system by just running emerge gimps, and following the isntructions in the comments. Later, I decided to start an account, set the userid in the prime.txt config file, but can't figure out how to set my password. The computer is at home, and I am here on campus. Now, I have one of my two cores running LMH assignments from 64 to 65 bits, and since it is a 64 bit system, some of these should have finished by now. I see no assignments finished on my account. I'm hoping if I edit the config fgile to put my password in (how do I do this?) |
Prime95 and mprime do not require a password to be entered in the clients (they used to in old versions, v24 or older which were clients for PrimeNet v4 or older, but not in client v25/PrimeNet v5). You only need the password for logging in to your account at http://mersenne.org.
Also, make sure you're setting the right fields in the right files. In prime.txt:
V5UserID=YourUserId
And optionally in local.txt: (this allows you to easily see which computer's which when you look at your account)
ComputerID=ThisComputersId
|
Thanks. I think the issue might be that I checked out the exponents when I was still anonymous. I hope I get credit for the ones I checked out as anonymous now that I have a user id set.

As long as your worktodo.txt still has the assignment IDs (long strings, 64 digits IIRC, of numbers from 0-F) for the exponents, it should be credited correctly when you submit them. |
