25.5m to 28m up to 2^60
Except for a few stragglers on borged boxen this range is just about done.
|
There are still about 7700 exponents with status 58 or 59 bit in the 26M range which will maybe released to primenet within the next month (it might be that George adds just the 25M range first).
Just to be aware of that. |

Just to be aware of that.[/QUOTE] I'm trying to get through them as fast as I can. The two P166 and one P200 do their best, but they are slow. Do you want me to switch these exponents to a P4 or what is thought best ... Hadn't realised there were was such a race on. |
bayanne,
Try to clear up to 26M and then 27M asap. Athlon's really rock at this and P4's are a waste. If you do not have Athlons or PIII's let me know and I can help. Send me email if you need help. |

Send me email if you need help.[/QUOTE] I don't need help, I suppose. I have already passed the >27m on to someone else, I'm just doing 25.5 up to 27m. I have finished at least up to 60 bit up to 26m which I had made a priority. It would be good to know George's plans, before I start moving around batches of exponents from machine to machine. I currently have 2 borged boxen which are difficult to get at, and 5 slow boxen which I can get at fairly easily. If someone could let me know, then I will try and juggle them all about. |
Don't panic, but we have to realize that also the TF speed has increased after the M40 boost - unfortunately not as much as for LL. I guess the leading edge could hit 30M at the end of the year.
I will ask George to release exponents to primenet in small portions, let's say 0.5M, and as late as possible. For example 25-25.5M in about 3 weeks when markr has finished his great work to 62 bit in this range - hopefully. This would result in at least 2 month before the 26M range is touched by TF. So, if you don't have an Athlon or similar I suggest to think about a release of 26-27M at 60 bit for faster machines (your P4 is much better for TF, LL or DC) and change over to a higher range above 60M (twice as fast). OTH, it would be helpful if you release finished 61 bit work within 25.5-26M as soon as possible, ie. in portions of 0.1M, just in case that some people with fast Athlons are interested to bring that range up to 62 bit before primenet. |
25.5 - 27.0 range
OK, this is the current situation:
25.5 - 25.6 being done from 2^61 to 2^62 [Athlon 1000] 25.6 - 25.7 being done from 2^60 to 2^61 [P233] 25.7 - 26.0 done up to 2^60 26.0 - 26.1 being done from 2^60 to 2^61 [P200] 26.1 - 26.2 being done from 2^59 to 2^60 [P3/500] 26.2 - 26.3 done up to 2^60 26.3 - 26.4 being done from 2^59 to 2^60 [P3/500] 26.4 - 26.6 done up to 2^60 26.6 - 26.7 being done from 2^60 to 2^61 [P166] 26.7 - 26.9 done up to 2^60 26.9 - 26.95 being done from 2^58 to 2^60 [Cyrix 333] 26.95 - 27.0 being done from 2^58 to 2^60 [P166] I should have posted about the 25.5 - 25.6 being taken to 2^62, apologies for that  This is on a box that is difficult to get, and so I gave it a chunk that would take a bit of time to do. I may be able to get the results in a couple of weeks or so. The rest is self-explanatory. I have moved over another P3/500 today to cover the 26.1 - 26.2 range. |
Thanks for the detailed status. I've contacted George meanwhile and he agreed to release just 0.5M ranges for the next time when the number of exponents available for TF in primenet drops below 3000. So I estimate that 25-25.5M will be released in about 10 days, 25.5-26M in about 4-5 weeks . Therefore I would recommend to focus the power, ie. your P3s, to 25.5-26M - after the rest is finished to 60 bit, of course.
If you need help, let us know asap. |
How are you doing?
Do you need some help? MrHappy  |
[QUOTE=MrHappy]How are you doing?
Do you need some help? MrHappy [/QUOTE] Ok, I know that 25.5 to 25.6m has been done up to 62 bit. I just have not been able to get access to the results file recently. I hope to do so next week. You can do the rest of the range from 25.6 to 26m up to 62 bit. I still have boxen working on the following ranges: 26.0 to 26.1m up to 61 bit 26.3 to 26.4m up to 60 bit 26.4 to 26.6m up to 61 bit 26.7 to 26.8m up to 61 bit Once this has all been done up to 61 bit, I will go and choose a completely different range to start working on, so that the range 26 to 27m can be taken on by someone else up to 62 bit. |
Ok, thanks for the status. I guess 25.5-26M will be released by George in two weeks (hopefully not earlier), so it's a hard job the get the rest up to 62 bit (we will need a lot of Athlons). We should also wait for your results (61bit) in the next nofactor file (did you already send them), or please tell us what subrange is still unchanged at 60 bit.
