I enjoyed the Queen version of that song when I had it. I might still have it on my hard drive, not sure. Unfortunately, the Real Rhapsody version has the person's voice altered so badly I decided I'd rather not continue to listen.

Damn good song, even if I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment. I say not necessarily since I can't remember the precise lyrics.
I think it is. A year or so ago, one of the preachers at my church stated that he's finished watching American Idol when the Hollywood portion starts, and I'm thinking to myself,"Why are you stating this stuff from the pulpit, you moron? You oughtta be ashamed of yourself."

Of course, considering the forum, this might end up being a one post thread, but hearing my mom shriek at bad singing brought it all back. Have some compassion, you at-the-moment horrible woman.

Do you want to ban God, or the mention of God? I'm guessing the second, since banning something that doesn't exist would be silly.

Note that I'm not saying that I don't believe in God, it's just I've never known daviedaddy to do anything to indicate he's mentally ill, so I was interpreting his statement with that in mind.

Edit: Oops, forgot about the posts earilier in the thread.
Watching and/or enjoying American Idol is not a sin.

For anyone.

Not for me, not for you, not for a preacher or priest or criminal or farmer.

Not for anyone.

If religion is still ever on your mind, check out the new posts
in your god-threads in the soapbox.

Might be refreshing.

It would come as a blessed relief from something that is becoming increasingly tedious.
Yes, he may.

I hesitate to attempt to educate a citizen of the US about his own constitution but:

(a) neither Davieddy nor I are citizens of the US. Come to that, many other members of the forum are US citizens;

(b) much more importantly, the first amendment to the US constitution applies only to the US government and its agencies. Private individuals can do pretty much as they damn well please. Last time I investigated the matter, Mersenneforum is neither part of nor an agency of the US government.
I think you were right to hesitate.

I recommend a little more hesitation.

Seems to be vaguely relevant.

This is false. Details follow.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Which part of "Congress shall make no law" do you not understand?

Surely you don't believe that Snake1 is a member of Congress? If so, there is truly little hope for you.
... and to any lower level (state, county, ...) of government, if by "US government" one means "federal government".
If I grant you that one, do you believe Xyzzy is a governmental agency?

AIUI, individual citizens are not required by US law, constitutional or otherwise, to propagate all and anything other citizens wish to say.

Regardless of the answer to that one, a non-US citizen not resident in US-controlled territory is not bound by the provisions of the US constitution, which is where this particular sub-thread began.
... and to any lower level (state, county, ...) of government, if by "US government" one means "federal government".
Or rather, to any lower level of government, due to the 14th amendment, and subsequent rulings from the supreme court. Laws restricting the federal government do not automatically apply to the states. [Which is why, before the 14th amendment, some states had state churches.]
