PowerPC development platform

Just wondering, are there any other good PPC development platforms EXCEPT for Power Macs which are:

-somewhat quick, one PPC 970 should be the minimum
-payable,new or used for less than 400 dollars
-capable of installing and running a linux distro

I know,a used 1-core G5 PowerMac can be had for 250-300 dollars at ebay, but I actually don't like Apple at all,so I want something else.
BTW,it doesn't need to have a graphics card, dvd drive or things like that,it should just have an ethernet port so I can manage it remotely and upload programs and stuff.

Thanks!

I'm rather more pragmatic tham that, but it takes all types I suppose.

Well,I might take one of these Macs if there really is no other option, but there are 2 things I don't like about it:
-It's from Apple:smile:
-It has got a graphics card, optical drives and stuff. That means it takes more space,it costs more and it consumes more energy.
