Team Sieve of 210885
 
Here is our first 15k that we are going to try to sieve as a team. jocelynl has sieved up to 400,000,000,000, and I'm working on the 400b to 750b chunk. We will be working on other 15k's to try to find one that we will test to with large n's. This is the first one, and we need help reducing the number of prp tests needed to complete this first range, so it's sieving time! Once this is done, we will start handing out ranges to prp test for primes!


I have created the files for helping to sieve this 15k, along with instructions. (Please let me know if I missed anything in the instructions )

1st - If you don't have a copy of NewPGen, [URL=http://www.utm.edu/research/primes/programs/NewPGen/]download it from here[/URL] Unzip it, and place the NewPGen.exe file in an easy to access location.

2nd - Request a range file from [email]15k@strikepoint.com[/email] - Let me know how big of a range you would like / and or how many files. (One file is needed per machine, and each machine need it's own range for the file.) An average machine will take about 1 week to complete a 250 billion range.

3rd - Open NewPGen (Click "OK" on the pop-up if it's the first time running NewPGen) Open the "Options" Menu, and select "Sieve Until..."

Select "Sieve up to p=" and enter the "Sieve up to" number listed next to the link you downloaded in step 2, then click "OK"

Select the "Continue sieving an old file," then click on the "Input file" button. Select the file from step 2, and click open.
Click on the "Output file" button. Again, select the file from step 2, and click open.
Click the "Start" button to start sieving!

If you need to restart NewPGen on a partially completed file, just start at the 3rd step, and it should pick up where you left off! (Be sure to enter the Sieve Up to information again!!!)

4th - After waiting a few days, NewPGen will popup a message that it's complete. After exiting NewPGen, email the file from step 2 to [email]15k@strikepoint.com[/email] . If you can't e-mail, post a message, or private message me, and I'll find some way to get the file.

Sieve files for 210885: :help:

SlashDude is sieving 210885750to1000.txt - Sieve up to 1000000000000 (1 followed by 12 zeros)

Joss is sieving 2108851000to1250.txt - Sieve up to 1250000000000 (125 followed by 10 zeros)

SlashDude is sieving 2108851250to1800.txt - Sieve up to 1800000000000 (18 followed by 11 zeros)

ET_ is sieving 2108851800to1900.txt - Sieve up to 1900000000000 (19 followed by 11 zeros)

SlashDude is sieving 2108851900to4000.txt - Sieve up to 4000000000000 (4 followed by 12 zeros)

SB2 is sieving 2108854000to5500.txt - Sieve up to 5500000000000 (55 followed by 11 zeros)

SlashDude is sieving 2105585500toXXXX.txt - Sieve up to ????

Thanks Luigi for picking up a sieve range!
I'm going to grab http://www.15k.org/210885/sieve/210885750to1000.txt for another machine.

I'll start posting LLR tests for 210885 on Monday (November 24, 2003) We'll keep sieving after that, but for the "smaller" n's, we should be good to go :grin:

It's nice to to see you taking 15k= 210885 to n= 1 million :alien:

For 321search we sieved to 14.7 trillion :whistle:

In fact, I was noting that only less than 200 numbers from 98753 candidates have been removed... It will be a hard work LLR-testing all of them :sad:

And it takes about 10,000 seconds to LLR-test just ONE of them on a 1 GHz machine.

The sieve clears approx a number each 600 seconds , maybe you should sieve those ranges a bit deeper, SlashDude...

Paul :shock: what happens if I didn't SWITCH ON "log the numbers removed"?
I hadn't any crash till now. (and 321search runs on another computer, don't worry :wink:).

Nothing much: I got carried away. It simply creates a file with the numbers that have been factored which is very useful for double checking. I forgot that NewPGen merges the "what's left" files when DC'd:mellow:

I'm planning on sieving to somewhere between 10 and 20 trillion. I'll add more files as we clear the ones that I've posted.

98753 candidates looks like quite a few, but the range starts at 230,000 so we will have a number of small tests to run first. :grin:

I was wondering the same thing for log the numbers removed. If there is a reason other then merging, and double-checking, let me know.

Thanks again ET_ for sieving a block for us! I merged ET's with the blocks I sieved, and we are down to 96,050 candidates. (Out of a range of 780,000 possible n's)

I have a number of machines sieving for the weekend. On Monday, we'll continue the LLR testing on this 15k!

FYI-
I updated the downloadable blocks with the merged candidates. If you already downloaded one, you do not need to re-download it.

1 trillion to 2 trillion is 10% complete
2 trillion to 4 trillion is 12% complete
94,621 n's remain (Down from 98,753)

The range list should be up to date, The logs show that someone downloaded the 1 trillion to 1.250 trillion range, and the 1.9 trillion to 2 trillion range, but they didn't send me an e-mail or post that they were going to work on the range, so I'm keeping them open.

I'm the guilty one who downloaded the 1 to 1.25 trillon.
I'm not going to seive it. It was just to see if the woodall I'm working on, was still there. And it is. With my slow computer is should be done in 9 hours.
