355968 done (i409, 2^6*3, C116 ready for GNFS)

Would it be incivil if I reserved the shortest 48 unclaimed sequences in about two weeks? I am getting a little bored with a steady schedule of one C157 every four days and want to try chewing on something else.
I don't see any problem with that; there are still plenty for thems that wants 'em.

Maybe you'll get lucky and pick up a downdriver like Batalov did!

schickel 2011-07-02 02:40
Definately!

418380 is done. At iteration 405, size 140, with a solid 2^3 * 3 * 5.

P.S.
I'll give 342144 a try.
Good luck with that.....it's going to be a tough job!

Looks like I did some work on it.....did I remember to unreserve it? I think I just ended up abandoning it when I started a large NFS job on all my machines....sorry 'bout that.

One downdriver didn't last (that's par for the course), but the second (equally lucky) got it done. The first escape was 2[SUP]3[/SUP] * 5[SUP]2[/SUP] * p à 2 * ..., and the second, 2[SUP]4[/SUP] * 5[SUP]2[/SUP] * p à 2 * ... Was there ever a case of killing a sequence with essentially just one downer from 110+? Maybe there will be with 4788!:rolleyes:

firejuggler 2011-07-02 03:20

taking 890960 for a short ride
edit : shoot already reserved, will take another

will take 367968

bsquared also had a nice downdriver run from this project, although not quite as nice as yours!

I don't think we've broken it yet, but the record for a sustained downdriver run is losing 108 digits: from 131 digits down to 23 digits; the final bottom was 17 digits before it headed back up (139314 starting at line 1724). Of course, it has been 6 months since Clifford updated his page and I don't recall anything from the last couple of months....

Wolfgang mentions 1578 as dropping from 108 down to 5(!) digits, so it's possible, even if it did take >4 downdriver runs.....

Nobody posted a reservation for it here except you. It is currently at index 336 with a c114. Perhaps DB workers ran it a little? I haven't removed it from the list yet, but it looks to me like it's fair game for anyone to reserve.

Batalov 2011-07-04 01:15

I'll take 158592, 401394, 587400 for a ride.

It started at the size advertised in the first post, so if you did any work on it I didn't notice .

I'm done with it now at iteration 408, size 149. Never budged from the 2^3 * 3 * 5. The C143 has received 1000 curves at 1M and 215 curves at 10M.
