This thread and all other threads in which davieddy has posted

Don't knock it till you've tried it.

But, if moderator involvement is what you desire, each post has a report icon (to the left). Click it and provide an explanation. No need to meta-post on the thread itself.

If you go back to your post #20, then my intended constructive,
relevant albeit not heavyweight post #21, you might realize why
I am slightly astonished by your quite unnecessarily stroppy and
negative responses.

Bearing in mind the amount of (by and large) good-natured banter
we have exchanged recently, I have to say this reaction is
disappointing to put it mildly.

How could you interpret axn's post as anything other than a
diplomatic way of suggesting that the two of us give it
a rest for a bit?
Because of posts 22 and 23.
I don't wish to repeat my post #23 here, but it was motivated
by your witless, snide and quite unjustified remark above.
I had even admitted to not yet having read the entire thread.

I will concede that #23 probably had folk scurrying for their
ignore button and/or men in white coats, but I can explain
every bit of the surreal juxtaposition of images contained therein,
why I was not in the best of moods even prior to your post, and
why my thoughts were on Alice.
BTW is the Mad Hatter's Tea Party from Wonderland or Looking Glass?

I have never, nor would I ever have or ever will, made a personal
attack on a poster, just as you wouldn't. Your responses to what
you consider to be my most outrageous math and science claims have
been fair (though I would not say always fully correct) and never fluffy.
As least you are trying to give us the benefit of the doubt.

An extraordinarily deceitful posting.
You remove the quotation marks and the citation of
the legendarily witty Peter Cook without making it clear
that you haven't quoted my post verbatim.

Contrast that with the "Physics Problem" thread in "Homework",
where you quote my considered post verbatim, with the addition
of "sic" after every sentence.

You make me sick.

Your self delusion is truly staggering.

At the risk of sounding as obsequeous as you, I would consider
the standard of moderation here second to none.

I freely admit that the tone of my posting shows a wide
variation (which I hope is considered a good thing). Mods respond
frequently and appropriately. As you have been advised by two
highly respected members here, your childish "Please Miss,
he's teasing me: ban him" is completely uncalled for.

be reviewed as a prelude to a ban.

Rereading tends to allow one some added self-moderation.
Instead of burying the hatchet let's try to let bygones be
bygones. If and when you provide any sort of positive
analytic feedback to my two most controversial threads / posts,
perhaps I can also ignore my earlier responses to your perhaps
less than polite style of posting.

I think both of us (let alone everyone else here) are tiring of
our bickering, especially since it is sprawled out over numerous threads.

If I could click on Paul's attempt at a link to "the Davs Sandpit" I would.

Meantime, my OP was not intended to be entirely frivolous.
The situation is desperate but not serious.

Yes I'm old enough, never developed the drinking habit.
I wouldn't want to start into anything I'm reading into your

But our conflict is over. Perhaps you want to relook at some
of the threads (puzzles, etc) I started and discuss those there.
I don't like getting personal in the mforum.

Neither I'm sure.

I would venture to guess that my most influential
predecessor was probably Ayn Rand, whose groundbreaking
small book Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology was the
most encapsulating summary of the relationship of mathematics
to the encompassing spectrum of all human knowledge.

Wonderful book.
