(A note on Goethe in Chicago: There is a street named for him. When I lived in that area, I heard some bus drivers call the stop with proper German pronunciation, while others said, "Go' thee" (th as in "think".) I heard at least one driver who called out both pronunciations. This was probably the one who also called Buena Street with Spanish pronunciation, and as "bu e' na". :smile:)
