People that 'preach' tolerance, tend to be intolerant of people that are intolerant.

BTW, just because one does not like something and advocates against it, does not mean that they wish to harm, kill, etc. those that like, do, or advocate for something. To call them intolerant or phobic is not always stating the truth. If something is not philic, that does not de facto make it phobic.

aphorism "if you're not for me you're against me"?

No.

Rather than discuss it in this thread, I suggest
starting a thread on Religious Intolerance
in the SoapBox.

I think that may be a topic whose time has come.

(There are other kinds of intolerance.)

You start the thread and, if necessary, I'll move any appropriate posts over there.

I suggest that your comment, now the OP of this thread, is perfectly
valid and could remain here, although the motivation for this thread
is now in the other thread.

My intolerance is wearing thin.

Is there such a thing as rational intolerance?

Irrational intolerance, rarely evident, is obviously
something we would all condemn. What about
intolerance of evil, or of intolerance itself?

davar55 2011-01-11 21:26

I trust you are referring to the real and rational intolerance that
some of us feel towards evil, intolerance, and irrationality, and not
(as some might interpret it) that I was an example of such.

In either case, thanks.

And I think that the Peak Oil thread has also provided an example.
