The Update Blog

To keep everybody informed here a report about the progress.

At the moment a full backup of the old system is running and I am bringing down the different servers.

Next steps after the backup:
1. Make an export of all the DBs
2. Store these export on 2 locations.
3. Test import of the export file. ( Has been done before. this time only to check the integrity of the export)

ltd 2010-12-15 12:31

Exports created.
Now copying the files.

ltd 2010-12-15 13:18

Data stored on my home machine and also an additional external drive.
Next step was the import to one of my local machines to check the integrity of the export files.
I have decided to check the major DBs only. These are the primesierpinski and SR5 masterdata files.
The linux MySQL 4 exports imported without any problems into my Windows MySQL 5 home test DB.

Next step. Install a new OS on the server.

ltd 2010-12-15 14:53

After a first install with the wrong template now on the correct linux version.
Import of the DBs nearly finished. (Final parts of SR5 master data in progress)

Next step install prpnet server.

ltd 2010-12-15 15:38

After installing some libs the old prpntserver 2.7.x can at least be started.
But when I try to compile the 4.0.3 server I get a compiler error stating that I am missing sql.h, sqlext.h and sqltypes.h. I will have to contact Rogue. Hope he can tell me which package I forgot to install.

The PRPnetserver 2.7 for PSP are online again. (ports 7100 and 7101)
The web pages for PSP and SR5 at least show the old data again.

Open points PRPnet 4.0.3. I get it to compile and to start but no really to work so far. More investigation is needed from my side. By the way many thanks to Rogue. He did send a first reaction to my request within 5 minutes.

For the old llrnet server it looks very bad. So far I did not even find the missing lib. So no way to install something to get it to run again.

Now I will start to look into the stats update.

ltd 2010-12-15 19:12

PSP stats look quite good. Only the csvstats have an error at the moment. A select that worked with MySQL 4 now troughs an error.

If the transfer scripts from the PRPnet servers back into the DB really work
has to wait for the first returned result. At least there is no error thrown so far.

P.S. While writing this I have found the reason for the error in the csvstats.
Will be solved within an hour.

[strike]Lars, if you need a precompiled Linux PRPnet server binary, I have one for 4.0.2 (which is the same as the latest 4.0.4 on the server, since the only changes since then were in the client) which we're using at NPLB. The binary is for 64-bit Linux. I had to tweak a few things to get it to compile initially, so I suspect you're running into the same errors I did.

If you're interested, just drop me a line at max@noprimeleftbehind.net and I'll get the binary to you right away.[/strike]

Edit: whoops, never mind, just re-read your post and realized you were able to get it to compile after all.

Edit 2: I do have a Linux LLRnet binary if you could use that.

About the llrnet server. The problem is that i have to find a libmysqlclient.so for my debian distribution as my executable requeres that lib.

Will this do? https://www.wetransfer.com/dl.php?code=rA23lxl6&hash=fecf702327d6da9e78e2a3e47db21938d28722ad7a9b8ec8a9d52b8e49126820c3337ca23cc75c

It's from Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit; since Ubuntu is a derivative of Debian it should be close enough.

ltd 2010-12-15 19:49

For whatever reason I installed a 32Bit OS. (Don't ask me why. I have no good answer) But thanks for looking this up. When I have the stats and the PRPnet 4.0.3 running I will have a closer look to find that lib.
