yeah I've seen a lot say decreased but the number of digits looks almost flat-lined ( at least to me) in the factor database (here's hoping it killed it). currently working on line 1701 in ggnfs ( okay never mind I may have to switch back to the 0 auto increasing ecm curves ( I have quite a few Gb)), polynomial selection has failed.
Are you sure that polynomial selection has completely failed? When you use yafu (aliqueit with the -y flag) with more than one threads running, sometimes one of the thread fails to find a poly and thus outputs a failure message. As long as at least one other thread found a polynomial, you can happily continue GNFSing. (BTW: if you see the sievers running (output looks like "total yield: 155118, q=4858171 (0.76484 sec/rel)"), then you can ignore the failure message - at least one thread has found a polynomial)
I'm just unsure when I should change reservation away from what schickel signed me for ( which at last check wasn't up to date on the first post), I was thinking 100 more lines than it was but that seems too fast approaching as I've climbed about 70 lines ( since it started at 1630) at last check.
As mentioned by others, it's entirely up to you. This particular one is interesting because you've had 100 lines in the 110-112 digit range. I haven't seen very many others that have stayed stable that long..... (since you don't have a 3 in the guide or a power of 2 and one of the sigma factors [2^3 * 5 or 2^5 * 7, for example], the sequence will tend to not increase in size.)

If you check the bottom of the first post, I last pulled a complete status update a week ago (10/20). I'll probably update everything this week. (Everyone seems OK with the infrequent status updates....)
yeah I've seen a lot say decreased but the number of digits looks almost flat-lined ( at least to me) in the factor database (here's hoping it killed it). currently working on line 1701 in ggnfs ( okay never mind I may have to switch back to the 0 auto increasing ecm curves ( I have quite a few Gb)), polynomial selection has failed.
"Decreased" means the absolute value of the number on a lines has decreased from the line before. That means the digit size of a number can stay the same, but the number decreases (eg. 123456.......7 <112 digts> is greater than 113456.......7 <112 digits>, so it would print a "decreased" message for those two....)

We already tackled one of these; the poly search failed to find a poly with a score greater than the threshhold in the def-nm-params.txt file....

@sm88: You can do one of two things here: either make the ggnfs switchover a little higher in aliqueit.ini so that it uses yafu (or msieve) for 99 digit numbers, or change the line in def-nm-params.txt that sets a score for 99-digit numbers so a poly can be found.

Also, does aliqueit manage to run GNFS with the script? That was going to be my next followup with you when I got some time off work....

abandoning 356382 in this thread too

yeah the ecm part tried to do gnfs and it fails , but this time I tried to open computer to check how much room I had left and it looked to have made aliquet or what ever was running change to the folder icon then to my computer icon.

Releasing 412944.

It had a downdriver run from 134 to 111 digits, which was pretty awesome... but now it's at 124 digits with 2^2*7. c116 at i2529 is fully ECM'ed.

test. please delete the current post.
(after you moved some posts to the archive I have trouble reading this thread, keeps sending me elsewhere when I click on pages in the page list, don't know if only my problem. It does not happening with other threads. Also, I can see 12 pages of posts, but can't access last two)

edit: interesting, this reply appears after my previous post, current page is 10, but I still can see 12 pages in the page list, could be the reason that I was replying to some post in the same time you moved last two pages of posts?)

I tried to move some messages to the archive thread, it churned for a while, then said I didin't have permission.....I'm wondering if the message are kind of "stuck" in limbo.

You might also try clearing out your local cache, in case that's messing with things....I'll also have to try to move the messages again; I had to give up last night because of an early appointment this morning.

Limbo... I guess yes. I had the same problem (click on the thread sending me elsewhere), and now I am on page 10 of 12 of this thread - but there are no pages 11 and 12...

10metreh 2011-10-28 17:21

Weird - the archive thread also has some pages that you can't get to. Seems the messages are several dream levels below real life.
Weird - the archive thread also has some pages that you can't get to. Seems the messages are several dream levels below real life.
I noticed that a couple of days ago. Definitely strange.

I hope they're still searchable; that was why I wanted an archive thread rather than just deleting the posts: so we can search back and see who reserved what (in case we want to look back for historical reasons.....)

10metreh 2011-10-28 17:34

They are still searchable: I checked my old logs and found that I worked on 256280 last Christmas, and I can find the posts in which I reserved and released it, even though I can't see them in the thread.

That isn't the only weird thing going on: there's a bizarre 0-post thread called "Archived reservation posts #2", as well as an ordinary thread with that title.

Edit: deleted the 0-post thread. I expected the real thread to disappear as well, but that didn't happen. Also the real thread has inaccessible pages.
