gimps official twitter?
 

I was thinking it would be nice to have an official gimps twitter, for posting a resume of the news that appear on [url]http://www.mersenne.org/[/url] (like when a new prime is found)

Even if it doesn't get updated very often, i think it would be really usefull, the reason been that it would be easy to check the news without having to enter the above page periodically, so it's easier to stay tuned with the news.

It doesn't exist now i think, so what do you guys think? is it a good idea?

It would be easier to fetch the news from a twitter page than from a plain page like [url]http://www.mersenne.org/[/url]

I once programed a script that posted on twitter the latest mersenne residues, it was [url]http://twitter.com/mersenne_news[/url], the script had to run every few minutes to stay updated, so it was too resource intensive and the hosting were I was running the script didn't like it and stoped it.

Neitherway, I could program a hack that detects if that plain page has been updated.

you realize all they'd have to do to mersenne.org is add an rss feed an you might get it.

I know, that would be easy too. Anyway I thought it would be even better a twitter page for the "140 chars" limitation. The leds wont be able to display many characters at a time and I don't want it to be scrolling an hour, so I would prefer concrete resumed news.
