Wrong link, it's this one:

Yes, but not the right one.

16.) Is it one of the items on this list?
http://collage.cityoflondon.gov.uk/collage/app?service=external/Categories&sp=17&sp=X
Nope.
18) Does it (or something very close to it) appear anywhere on the page: http://thesaurus.com/browse/courtesy?
Anywhere on the page? Then yes ... kind of "something very close to it". Certainly a lot closer than you all have been getting so far.
Perhaps the answer is common sense and retina does not think much of science (re: answer 6). |
With the right inspiration and the right resources (hint hint) I think that this one can still be solved. I have confidence in your collective abilities to work this out.
I'm interpreting this as a loosening of rule 8: "Except 'point of order' posts, recaps, and clarifications: side discussions are discouraged." My rearrangement question, in my mind, was an attempt to eliminate barn-raising, habitat-for-humanity, charity and resource distribution. I'm staring at retina's quote above; this looks like a very direct hint, but in this case I feel a bit like the dog that stares at the master's hand when it is pointing at something else. From Thesaurus.com's "Courtesy" web page:
"Resources on Dictionary.com" Style guide Confusing words Word of the Day Free tools Blog Games
|

Maybe the dog staring at the hand - to use only_human's analogy - should not be staring at the word "resources" but at the second sentence in retina's hint. Can the answer actually be the collective abilities to solve a problem as a team? But then formulated in such a way that animals are ruled out? I don't have anything like enough confidence to ask the final question, by the way. |
Voting recently occurred in the USA (Daylight Savings Time too). I consider that the question could have a contemporaneous component but also note that retina states that he never experienced an American schoolchild education.

and when I said "math" he said "maths". |

Well I am considering what our collective resources and abilities might be. Would that be something mathematical such as an attack on SHA-1? (you say the string was only put through once) Wikipedia's picture of SHA-1 looks like the 2nd 32 bits of output is a faithful copy of the first 32 bits of the source data; something in this direction? |

No math(s) needed.

I was thinking maybe "the internet" or something like that.
