So let's schedule the post-processing to start within 15 days. Is it possible?
Sounds like a good target. One of my PCs is 3-5 days away from finishing its range. The other one is closer to 10 days away from finishing.

reserving 15.0M-15.5M

em99010pepe 2010-10-15 18:17

I didn't know we could reserve ranges below 16M...Probably I will need to reserve at least another small range, like 2M, to keep one of my machines busy for another 3-4 days.

I'm still working on my last range (about 1.1M to go) but I need to stock up while I'm away this weekend so I'll take 50-52M as well.

He specified sieving 20M-90M, but I started at 16M, since I'm using the PERL script to manage my job.

There is not really a "do not sieve below this point" point. Rather there is a "sweet spot" where most of the relations are found. If you use any of the scripts available to manage jobs, they start at 1/2 the factorbase bound and work up from there. I think I remember seeing that for bigger projects this can lowered to as low as 1/4 the factorbase size. So since we're using a factor base of 33M, you could, theoretically, go as low as 8M. I think that if you do go that low, however, you start to get "too many" duplicates generated.....

Maybe the thing to do would be to just start at, say, 60M and sieve until everyone finishes their ranges. That way you could sieve right up until the last minute before starting the post-processing.

I'll be out for the weekend, I will be back Sunday so all ranges done until then will be downloaded later on Sunday.

bsquared 2010-10-17 01:45

I'll reserve 52 - 57.
