Who said that? The biggest "milestone blocker" is curtisc. That is why we have a topic with curtisc blocked exponents, bla bla. Only the one who does not work at all, does not make mistakes...

Never thought it would come to this. It is 77.8% complete. Will ask my parents to leave the computer on continuously for a few days.
All exponents below 50,000,000 tested at least once.

It would be nice if we could have countdowns on GIMPS milestones page to:

All exponents below 50,000,000 tested at least once.
and
All exponents below 75,000,000 tested at least once.
and
All exponents below 79,300,000 tested at least once.

since we presently don't have any other "tested at least once" countdown milestones.

I wonder if he is related to ... or used to be known as the other person whose ID started with a J and ended in 5???

Same modus operandi.
All exponents below 79,300,000 tested at least once.
That number is directly available on the classic report page. currently it is 516,269. Here is a handy graph.

NBtarheel_33 2012-12-08 21:01

Looks like there was a significant loss of throughput around 2000; any idea what caused that? Sudden interest in ten-million-digit candidates?

Uncwilly 2012-12-14 00:50

Then there were two.

As of today,
All exponents below 25,921,121 have been tested and double-checked.
Countdown to proving M(25964951) is the 42nd Mersenne Prime: 2

I think that by the 25th (or 31st at latest) we will see that number drop to zero. I hope that by next year, the next milestone will fall.

M(25964951) has been proven to be the 42nd Mersenne Prime!

All exponents below 26,083,693 have been tested and double-checked.
Countdown to proving M(25964951) is the 42nd Mersenne Prime: 0

Edit: According to "Recent Cleared" report, this milestone was achieved at Dec 20, 2012 3:31 AM (UTC)

Between GPUto7x and Signals, there is a more concentrated effort than ever before on clearing milestones and bringing the DC and LL tails closer together. The rate of clearance for the M43 milestone seems to be holding at 700-800 per week, which would predict that the order of M43 should be established in 1H13 (probably 2Q13). With a little more pedal to the metal, M44 could actually squeak in at the very end of '13 as well. Over the last few years, 55K cleared exponents per year has been the norm in the milestone ranges. There are roughly 56K and change waiting for a DC below what we expect to be M44. Then I believe we will have a bit of a wait for M45 probably in the Fall of '15, and M46 and M47 coming on the heels of each other in 1H18. Hopefully by this point, we will have added a few more countdowns to the list by virtue of having found a few more primes, or even (how exciting!) the first prime found by DCing.
