Why are there still 10 TF assignments for RobertKazan?
https://www.mersenne.org/assignments/?exp_lo=50740883&exp_hi=52000000

No one has yet been assigned a DC for those 10.
Good question. Already TF more than enough. The TF reservations show no expiration. LLDC them already and move on. A radeonvii could crank out a few DC a day in gpuowl in ~51M.

I will take them, but I cannot register them on primenet since the TF assignments are blocking.

lolapus also has 499 TF assignments at 52M

No expiry date. No ETA.

Why does the server allow these?

Maybe George can wave a magic wand and make them go away.
Why does the server allow these?
Especially since they're a bit overfactored already.

Just deleting those assignments is no solution and might be unfair to the users if they handled in good faith. The scripts behind the manual assignment pagesmust be changed. No Cat 0, 1 and perhaps even Cat 2 exponents should be assigned for anything but LL or PRP testing.

As of now, 1 left to 51M DC milestone (estimated 3 days), and 3 more to 52M DC, one of which is checking in regularly; two seem stalled.
docustompc has been contacted for [M]51931577[/M]
And someone who may or may not be William P Wilkey about the other. [M]51791717[/M]

51 M DC done  ...
1 left to 52M

Then, on to 53M in October. (Looks like Fan Ming did cleanup of expired DC for 51M.:thumbs-up:)

52M!
More haste, less speed.
If a DC does not report progress for months, including after attempts to contact the user, and it expires, it's hard to see any harm in Fan Ming or anyone else newly assigned them taking them to completion and getting it over with.
There is an unavoidable level of loss /waste of computing cycles, and that's on the folks who quit before finishing, or don't mind their kit for months at a time. Granted some equipment is inaccessible this year for reasons out of mere users' control.
Progress will occur. Waste will too.
Gpuowl is currently the only software that does only 0-shift runs. A Radeon VII running a recent version of Gpuowl can perform about four 50M LL DC in a day.
That means one LL DC assignment expiring and another user's completion of the same exponent the same day is not evidence of poaching.
Running first-time PRP without -proof, or even worse, first-time LL, by CUDALucas, prime95/mprime, Mlucas, etc is haste creating waste, by requiring more future DC, that is quite avoidable. (PRP with proof is possible on Gpuowl now, not yet released for prime95/mprime, not yet developed for Mlucas.)
Needed DC is currently a very good use of cycles, while we wait for PRP proof capability to expand.
