The other two exponents have assignment ages of 10 and 16 months. Should anything be done about those? That is to say, how likely is it that those tests won't ever be completed by their current assignee?
And while agreeing wholeheartedly with the other replies above to what you write, I'd add that many faithful contributors have also learned how to shut their computer down when they're not using it. The extra cycles which personal computers use while their owners are briefly checking their Email sum up to a sizeable contribution to the project too.
Not very...there's been a checkin every 60 days, and whoever has those exponents assigned has stuck with things, for a minimum of 10 and 16 months, respectively.

At a guess, they aren't doing them on a new computer, either, which makes it likely the person involved has been contributing for several years.
This report estimates both could be done within 5 weeks?
The other two exponents have assignment ages of 10 and 16 months. Should anything be done about those?
Please describe for us a real-world harm that will occur if "nothing" is done about those. (Mere feelings of impatience in ones mind do not count as a real-world harm.)

If you can't describe any such resultant real-world harm, why should "anything be done about those"?

Dubslow 2011-10-07 00:53

Just asking. As for petrw1, I've never seen an Active Assignments page before. How does one get there?

LaurV 2011-10-07 01:49

Whoops! :grin::lol:

Let's wait and find out.

To a minor milestone:

23 Jan 11: 304
28 Jan 11: 285
19 Mar 11: 183
30 Mar 11: 155 = 1 + 60 + 94
08 Apr 11: 147 = 1 + 58 + 88
13 Apr 11: 142 = 1 + 57 + 84
18 Apr 11: 136 = 1 + 56 + 79
21 Apr 11: 130 = 1 + 52 + 77
27 Apr 11: 124 = 51 + 73
03 May 11: 114 = 45 + 69
14 May 11: 100 = 39 + 61
16 Jun 11: 69 = 30 + 39
29 Jun 11: 55 = 21 + 34
11 Jul 11: 49 = 18 + 31
21 Jul 11: 42 = 16 + 26
30 Jul 11: 33 = 11 + 22
07 Aug 11: 24 = 7 + 17
16 Aug 11: 19 = 4 + 15
23 Aug 11: 15 = 2 + 13
7 Sep 11: 14 = 2 + 12
26 Sep 11: 7 = 1 + 6
7 Oct 11: 3 = 1 + 2

As of today, GIMPS is 3 LL tests from proving
all mersenne prime exponents < 24000000 have been found,
and are 40 in number.

Based on the recent posts here, I can only guesstimate
the reach-date as sometime this month.

It's not on the main menu system. You'll have to copy and past it from the link I posted.

George publicised it on this forum with the warning that it can be database intensive and to use it with reason.

Especially with this thought, I'm with I'm with I'm with I'm with I'm with Id....let's wait and see. There's still 4,000+ DC checks before M41 is proven, knock a few of those off while you are feeling impatient....It'll get us back to this point of impatience for the next milestone quicker, I promise you.

We passed a new milestone yesterday,

We are now down just below 22M exponents with status unknown, below 1000M on PrimeNet (21,999,421 remaining to be precise)

Glad it didn't go unnoticed!
