You can add a date to see what the threshold was at a specific date when an exponent was assigned, which is the category that counts for that exponent:

Are you saying the thresholds as of assignment date are what applies for assignment only, or for both assignment and subsequent expiration? I see exponents change Cat # during the course of the assignment lifetime, which seems consistent with the former, and not consistent with the latter.

phoniclynx at 79% and stalled for weeks, with weeks to go before expiration, looks like the limiting case.[/QUOTE]

The situation has changed dramatically. After a paltry increase of 0.1 in 2 weeks, 82399433 increased 1% the next day and then it has accelerated. If things continue like that, it would be finished by tomorrow. Alas, the other 2 exponents seem firmly stuck.

Assignments should only change category if they are reassigned to a new user. You need to check the thresholds on the day of assignment to check the category.

It would be unfair if you get say 90 days to complete an exponent and then suddenly you only have 30 days total because enough other exponents completed below to move yours to a lower category.

Check your own assignments. There are two columns, current category and original category. Mine are a mix of equal, current lower by one level, and current lower by two levels. Even assignments checked out manually earlier today are now at a lower category. I find that for the slowest gpus, which need about 6 weeks per first time LL, specifying a minimum exponent a couple of million above a higher category threshold helps keep them from expiring before completion. A really slow cpu can take 6 months to complete a double check.

Yeah you can see the original and current category, but expiration date will only follow the original category.

I guess current category is there to show you if it has changed, so you may voluntarily choose to hurry up the exponent.

I've had first-LL assignments change to DC while in flight. Can't say for sure if that was expire/reassigned, or poached.

Yeah, on reflection that's my bad. Showing the "current" category is misleading because the original category is what dictates when it'll expire. Maybe it's still useful to see, since then you'd know where it would currently live if assigned today. Might be motivating?

Did you see my comment in post #3002? Do you think the expiration rules are working properly?
