It is embarrassingly simple:
The fewer tests in progress, the slower the rate of completion.

What does require explanation is why you persist in
spamming us with this "countdown", which at best
is tedious, and at worst encourages poaching, which all
of us agree is undesirable.

My guess is summer vacation and/or heat issues. I saw a similar slow down last summer

I certainly don't want to encourage poaching.
If presenting these tidbits of information truly
can have that effect, I won't prolong this
minor milestone tracking beyond the original
thought, i.e. 24000000 and 40 being round.

There are a few folk (you me Petrw Unc etc) who like to keep
an eye on when "we" might find the next Mprime.
But as I'm sure you know, there are a few pages on "Mersenne.org"
e.g. milestones and summary which supply all the ammunition we need
to answer these questions.

In a year or so, we will "know" that the 24M and 25M numbers are
in correct sequence.

As my good mate (I hope) Chalsall would put it: "Chill Man"

Using the linear clearing pace since 2011-05-21, the dates will be 2011-10-04 and 2011-12-20, respectively.

Using the exponentially decaying clearing pace since 2011-05-21, the dates will be 2012-04-05 and [B]2015-03-18 (!!)[/B], respectively. And M(43112609) will struggle to have its proper place known before the dawn of the 22nd century.
