For a minor milestone:

At the recent rate of .4 LL per day, estimsted reach-date is Sep 29 2011. |
To a minor milestone:
23 Jan 11: 304 28 Jan 11: 285 19 Mar 11: 183 30 Mar 11: 155 = 1 + 60 + 94 08 Apr 11: 147 = 1 + 58 + 88 13 Apr 11: 142 = 1 + 57 + 84 18 Apr 11: 136 = 1 + 56 + 79 21 Apr 11: 130 = 1 + 52 + 77 27 Apr 11: 124 = 51 + 73 03 May 11: 114 = 45 + 69 14 May 11: 100 = 39 + 61 16 Jun 11: 69 = 30 + 39 29 Jun 11: 55 = 21 + 34 11 Jul 11: 49 = 18 + 31 21 Jul 11: 42 = 16 + 26 30 Jul 11: 33 = 11 + 22 07 Aug 11: 24 = 7 + 17 16 Aug 11: 19 = 4 + 15 23 Aug 11: 15 = 2 + 13 7 Sep 11: 14 = 2 + 12 As of today, GIMPS is 14 LL tests from proving all mersenne prime exponents < 24000000 have been found, and are 40 in number. The recent slowdown has I'm sure a good explanation, but at 1 LL per 15 days, estimsted reach-date is sometime in 2012. (I only recorded here this last entry to note the slowdown.) |
Painful

The recent slowdown has I'm sure a good explanation,
It is embarrassingly simple: The fewer tests in progress, the slower the rate of completion. What does require explanation is why you persist in spamming us with this "countdown", which at best is tedious, and at worst encourages poaching, which all of us agree is undesirable. David |

There are so many other threads, you should read a different one. |

What summer? |
I certainly don't want to encourage poaching.
If presenting these tidbits of information truly can have that effect, I won't prolong this minor milestone tracking beyond the original thought, i.e. 24000000 and 40 being round. |
No offence(sic) intended!

But as I'm sure you know, there are a few pages on "Mersenne.org" e.g. milestones and summary which supply all the ammunition we need to answer these questions. In a year or so, we will "know" that the 24M and 25M numbers are in correct sequence. As my good mate (I hope) Chalsall would put it: "Chill Man" David |

In a year or so, we will "know" that the 24M and 25M numbers are in correct sequence. David
Using the linear clearing pace since 2011-05-21, the dates will be 2011-10-04 and 2011-12-20, respectively. Using the exponentially decaying clearing pace since 2011-05-21, the dates will be 2012-04-05 and 2015-03-18 (!!), respectively. And M(43112609) will struggle to have its proper place known before the dawn of the 22nd century. See the attachment... |
This weekend should see at least 4 tests finish at my end bringing the number remaining down to 10. None poached. All mine.
